hw 6 video

  1. While watching my own video I feel somewhat strange. Its weird to see myself do something I do everyday but from a different point a view. In some ways I think I looked somewhat like a zombie I seemed to have no emotion in my face and looked just plain and emotionless.

It is somewhat upsetting for me to see that, which has become such a big and constant part of my life. I don’t like that so much of my life is depicted in that video. In most ways I’m shocked by the video but the video is in a lot of ways what I expected.

I don’t think I would want my little sister or future son spending as much time on the internet as I do. This question makes me think about how there is even on the internet there are better things I could be doing like an educational site instead of “Facebook.”

There is a big difference in what is going with me looking at the digital representation device and the device itself. I for instance look very plain and zombie like in the video but the computer was much more exciting and depicted a more interesting thing, this maybe one thing that is drawing me to spend more time on the Internet.

I think that things like the Wii bring physical exercise and digitalization closer together. In a way they close the gap between the digital life and real life. I think in the short term they greatly help obesity and help them become healthier. However it can have negative effects in the long term, it is important to keep the two aspects of life, digital life and real life separate

  2. Evan...
Well you definitely did this assignment exactly how you were supposed to, which is more then what I can say for my own video lol.
Anyways, this was a very realistic video because infact countless people sit in front of computer, cell phone and television screens with the same expression as you have. You embodied the facial expressions perfectly, mostly because you had a blank stare for most of the video. When surfing the blogs for other people's video's I notice that many people's expressions match yours.

I could tell you were tensing up sitting in the same position for so long , its obvious you were uncomfortable and fidgety being in the same place for so long. This is something i experience often especially when forced to be in the computer longer then i desire because of a homework assignment or conversation gone too long.

Perhaps if we were to do the video again, you could add in some footage about you interacting with other digital electronics like an iPod, television or video game system.

Your post makes me think about all the times I could have used a good stretch or walk outside but neglected my body's aches for the internet of social network. Its not healthy to be in the same spot for so long and staining out eye's, necks and bodies in order to enslave our minds to something we probably don't need in the first place.

Thanks for making such a thought provoking video, you prove a valid point with no words, impressive. See ya in class :D

  3. Thank you Alicia for your comment, it was very insightful and I think you got the main idea of my video and comment.

your Comment was helpful in me realizing exactly what my video was saying without me speaking it. You noticed things in the video that I didn't even see when i watched it, like the fidgeting.

The comment you left got me to think about how the negative physical effects this has on me. I usually stayed on the emotional effect it has on me, how i looked plain but you talked about how I was, i guess it was subconscious, fidgeting and becoming restless.

It seems i was more interested in what i was feeling and my look in my face where as you were focused on my arms how i couldn't stay still.

My post and your comment both seem to have a similar question within them about how we keep doing things we don't want to. why is our minds doing this if our bodies don't want us to?

    thanks for your comment
